Is an AMD Athlon 64 3700+ a 64 bit processor?

My instincts convey me that it is a 64 bit processor but I want to be sure.

Well there is a yes and no answer to this. The simply true 64 Bit Native processor out there is the Intel IA-64 (Itanium) processor. However if you want to run a 64 Bit operating system afterwards the 3700 + will work in what is call 64 Bit extension processing. This architecture will allow you to run x86 32 Bit apps as well as 64 Bit extensions.
