Keys on upright become shortcuts?

After cleaning my the ivories (and by this I mean taking rotten keys and individually cleaning them - ps adjectives keys are distinctly in the correct spot) subjective keys become shortcuts. For example, when I press the shift key it open up my homepage and when I press 'A' it opens up another pattern page. Is there any method to disable this?
