Is it dishonourable to flog a 250 GB tricky disk as a 500 GB intricate disk using compression?
Yes it is wrong.
List it as 250 with a possible 500 beside compression.
It would be ethical to sell it that route to someone who is not hardware-literate as they wouldn't understand compression. It would be dishonourable to sell it that method to someone who is hardware-literate. I would sell it as a 500 GB, after when inquiries were made, I would discern their knowledge, consequently inform them of the compression
Yes. It's a 250 GB hard disk and should be sold as such, if not you're intentionally commiting fraud. You can add proficient of storing up to 500 GB with information compression but you can't claim it's 500 GB. (Plus you can't count on 1:2 compression rate since it varies depending on record type.)
