Is near any way a concrete drive could be used for years and then not hold anything left on it but a few window icons departed on it even with taking back software? The drive was not formatted or wipe. I used a few different programs to recover and zilch but some windows icon was found. Also the drive be clicking the night up to that time and having read/write errors in windows xp.

It's fried. Same entity happened to me next to a three month old SATA drive. It's in recent times one of those things that happens.
the drive is merely old. things can surface for no reason. it could be the alluring pieces inside if you heard it clicking. i would say-so the hard drive is fried. a short time ago get another one and reinstall your operating system.
